Giveaway #1:

Today's first giveaway is for one of our more popular items:  The cluster stitch ear flap hat and diaper cover.
To enter this giveaway, simply add a comment to this blog post.  Share with us something you love about crocheting.  To start with, I'll share one of the things I most love:  an old crochet hook.  Mine's an old crochet hook that my mother bought me when she first taught me to crochet.  It's so smooth and it fits just perfectly in my hand.  Sometimes I think I create just to use it.  The funny thing is that I HATED that hook until I was an adult.  How time experience change things, huh?

I remember my grandmother teaching me how to crochet, and starting with a chain. I would crochet a long chain then she said you have to go back and crochet it again now for the first row, and I'd rip half the chain out because it was about 8 feet long!

I love doing a new pattern. Watching something take shape out of a pile of yarn is so inspiring. I could crochet all day!

I love how much faster it is than knitting...even if it was harder for me to learn.

My first introduction into the world of crocheting was one weekend when I was about 9...we were spending the weekend at my grand-parents and baba taught both me and my older sister. I couldn't get the hang of it if my life depended on it!! Years later right before I had my first ds...I picked it up again just to make him a baby blanket...loved it every since!!

I remember my grandma teaching me when I was younger but never getting past that first chain. I wish I would have taken advantage of her knowledge then, she's to far for me to get it now!

Mine is getting to use hooks and markers and things that once belonged to my grandmother. I miss her terribly and sometimes when I use things that used to be hers (like her super nice scissors and hooks and things) I just feel closer to her. I think it is why I am driven to create.

I have a full set of hooks and knitting needles that were my grandmothers. They make what I do special all on their own.

I love how relaxing and stress relieving crocheting is. I am also amazed at how a hook and some yarn makes so many adorable things.

I love that crochet is so timeless ... both the art and the patterns. One of my favorite relaxations is to crochet the same one-piece baby sacque pattern that I have used for over 35 years, and remember the many blessed babies and Mommies I have given them to.

I started crocheting years ago after being diagnosed with a severe chronic illness. I used to be a professional dancer and choreographer, but when I got sick I could no longer dance or be so active, and was going stir crazy without my normal creative outlet and stress reliever. I asked my Mom to teach me how to crochet (she's great at it!) just for something to do one day (I was stuck in bed). To my surprise, and delight, I actually really LOVED it! It became a huge stress reliever and my new creative outlet. And all these years later, I'm still here, still crocheting, and still lovin' it!

I used to cross stitch and it takes forever to finish anything. With crochet, I can get stuff done in a few hours...more chance it'll happen. :)
