Today's giveaway is for any one pattern of your choice. The entry today, however, is a little different than my normal entries.
One of my BFF's just hit 12 weeks, and she's trying to come up with creative ways to make her announcement, now that she's largely past the risk of miscarriage. So to enter, I want announcement stories. How did you (or someone you know) tell your husband, your family, your friends, your coworkers? I can't wait to hear your stories!!

We don't have little ones yet, but we had thought of giving people candles with little baby themed trinkets hidden inside, so that they would need to melt it to find out what the surprise was.
I have a friend who sent little cinnamon bun candles out with a tag that said "We have a bun in the oven!" A crocheted bun would be just as adorable though!
I was horrible at keeping secrets. With my first we found out right before christmas, so I made christmas ornaments and put "name" to be and the year on them, as well as made pink and blue "baby booty" cookies.
We sent out a clever little poem for our forth. As you can imagine people weren't shocked that we were pregnant AGAIN, but the poem made it special.
One of my coworkers had a shirt made with two little feet on her belly. She wore that shirt to a family BBQ! Thats how her and her family annouced they were having their 3rd baby and they did pink feet because they found out it was a girl.
A friend of ours had their son wear a "I'm the big brother" shirt when they went to visit people, then she also posted that on FB as her profile to see if people would notice.
When we were pregnant we signed my mom's birthday card: Love, Abbie Erick and baby fox.
I can't wait to see what other people have done :)
Im not very creative with this I think im a bit more traditional and I would invite everyone over for a bbq and make it into a baby theme, it will be a baby announcement party.
lol mine is pretty strait forward. With my first we didn't find out i was pregnant until i was about 4-5 months along due to being on the birth control shot. I showed my husband the four, yes four test, i took just to be sure lol and then we told our parents by saying "guess what?" My mom guess right away saying she already knew and had been trying to tell me for months that i was pregnant. His mom didn't guess right away lol Maybe for the next one, if we decide to have another, I'll be a bit more creative. :D
I put a picture of my 3 yr old wearing a big brother shirt in with a bunch of other pictures and sent them to my parents. They had to find the picture. With my first baby, I sent a photo frame to my parents with a picture in it inside saying "photo to arrive (insert due date)."
A few friends of were pregnant. They had no special way of announcing they were having a baby. They were due around the New Year. My friend's sister went with them to find the sex of the baby out with them. Then on Christmas with all of the family there, they opened a girl that had a gorgeous newborn head band in it. I guess it was pretty easy to guess they were having a girl!
In my first pregnancy I ate more Red Vines than I care to confess, I've announced the news of the last 3 to my hubby with the candy! I'm no longer allowed to bring them home if I'm not announcing anything though! :)
umm...placed the dip-stick in the man's hands & ran out the door to work (teacher)
3 months later told the siblings...youngest was 6th grade at the time...he went and made the announcement for me...to everyone at school!
fast forward 5yrs and now our little man is going to K in a few weeks! :0)

I was sick and in the hospital, I called my mother to tell her I was okay, and accidentally let it slip that the baby was okay too.
Not the way we WANTED to tell her, but we were all happy none the less! :)
For my first baby I found out a bit before christmas so I wrapped up some white baby booties a few times so it would take awhile to get to it. It was for my parents and well everyone there too since no one knew. It was kinda funny since there was no name as to who gave the booties to my parents so they were looking around the room for the couple that was expecting. I do however plan on having a gender reveal party for the next baby we have so I find out with all my family what we are having.
When we had our first we just told people. The 2nd and 3rd we had the older sibling wear Big Brother and Big Sister shirts and waited until people noticed. For the Great-Grandparents who never would have noticed, we gave them a card with this poem. They LOVED it.
Poem to Grandparents from Baby (Announcing Pregnancy)

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss,
I don't yet have a name.
You can't yet hold my tiny hands,
Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.
But all will change come ________,
That's when the say I'm due.
I'm your new grandson or granddaughter,
I can't wait till I meet you.
All I ask between now and then,
Is your patience while I grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait,
Because of all the love we'll know.
So what I have to give you now,
is a wish to you from me.
I cannot wait to be a part
Of this wonderful family.
I've seen where you can announce during a birthday party or a family dinner with a gift wrapped up for the grandparents to unwrap. It contained a pair of baby booties.
Well with Jax I found out I was pregnant after coming off of a midnight shift at 8am! So, I called my husbands phone--he was out bear hunting and told him to call me at home when he got a chance! So at this point I thought I had hung up the phone--wrong! As I was dancing around the house screaming and talking to our boxer Kensie--saying we are going to have a baby!! Luke listened to his messages--and he could hear me the whole time :) So when he called me and I told him he laughed and said really--Thats great but I knew--and I said how and he told me!
I'm terrible...I had just bought a new package of 'feminine' porducts and to tell my mother i gave them to her and said i ended up not needing them. she understodd instantly, just how my family is :)
1st Baby-we had just found out my sister was expecting so we gave my parents a basket of Pears with a card saying "Best things come in Pairs"
2nd Baby-We put together a scrapbook page with our first son holding an ultrasound picture-scrapbook letters saying "I'm going to be a big brother"
3rd baby-first 2 kids wore shirts to a family gathering saying "I'm going to be a big brother" & "I'm going to be a big brother-again!"
With my last baby, what I did was made a photo book of my first born's 1st year. On the last page i put a picture of her and put a quote "Mommy is pregnant". That photo book was given as presents to family on Christmas. They were all super excited.
My mother in law wanted us to have children forever. We knew she was a "screamer." So, we took her out to dinner, and I gave her a bracelet box with the positive test inside. She unwrapped it, then gasped and said, "You ARE?!" I said yes and let out a scream then commenced to dancing insanely. It was quite hilarious. My hubby got it all on video, too. :)

My youngest daugther is due in Jan. We find out Aug. 31 what she is having. She is planning to bake a cake and if it's a boy, the cake on the inside will be blue. If it's a girl, it will be pink.
To announce our second baby we put our son in a big brother shirt and put a picture of him in it in our Christmas cards. It took some of our family members a minute to realize what he was wearing, but it was a great way to break the news.
We bought little baby booties for the grandparents to be the first time. Dressed my daughter up in a big sister shirt for the second one. Then made shirts with the numbers one, two, and three on them for the third one. I wore the shirt that said three and it had an arrow pointing to my belly on it.
I always thought it would be fun to mail my parents a picture of the ultrasound and have some names picked out and placed on the ultrasound do she would know which of her children was pregnant
To announce it to my hubby I made him a special dinner full of items with the word baby....baby corn, baby carrots, baby potatoes & baby back ribs!!!
I was incredible lame... I just came out.. both were unplanned.. and at the worst timing.. but both are the loves of my life
1st baby - we were so excited that we blurred it out to my in laws but my parents got a bit of a surprise. We met for coffee the next morning and when we were all ordering I made a point of asking for decaf - which at that point I had a 3 latte a day habit - so they were all surprised. Am I just said, "what?! Caffeine is bad for the baby!" it took them a second for them to get it!
2nd baby: we made a sign for our son to hold that said "mommy and daddy are making me a big brother!!!" an then we took a pic of him. Every month we mailed photos to the grandparents and we slipped a copy of that on the stack, mailed it off and waited for the call!
3rd: well, my husband got hime from deployment on March 24th of this year - 3.5 weeks later we discovered we had a new one on the way! We called our parents and said " well, we are THOSE people!" they just started laughing bc they figured it would happen:)
With my first pregnancy we found out the week before Christmas so for my mom and sister I wrapped grandma and aunt frames with "Coming in August" in the picture spot. And for the other grandparents we gave them grandma bibs and clothes and such.
After losing the first baby we didn't really do anything for the second. I basically told my mom and from there everyone found out.
For this one I made a Big Sister to Bee shirt for Lillian for the family. I'm not really all that big on an announcement other than just family, but I love the idea of a shirt that says coming in (Feb I think?) over the belly, of a picture of a bun in an over on a shirt or card to send out.
oh gosh, I love that poem!
We're not the most creative people so we've just told people we were pregnant. But some friends of ours posted a pic on Facebook of them holding a big sign over their heads that says, "What? Why yes, we're pregnant!". It's really cute.
I had my daughter hold up a sign that said "I'm going to be a big sister" and I took a picture of her and sent that out to family.
Al 4 of my kids we just kinda old ppl. Nothing too special, we were very young with our first (19) and after that, it didn't really surprise anyone, lol
one friend posted a tshirt that she had painted "im so crafty i MAKE people" on it :)
its her 3rd child
for her second she posted a photo of her son wearing a tshirt saying "big brother" on it..
and i think for my next one, Ill make a post about doing some growing, and post photos of some potplants etc and then a photo of a pot with my home pregnancy test stuck into it.. :)
A lot of creativity ways of announcing. For us it was "Hey guess what we are going to have a baby". :)
On the first child I gave my hubby a shirt that said "proud new Daddy" and had it gift wrapped. On the second child I had our daughter a shirt made that said "I'm the big sister" and she wore it to dinner with my in-laws. My sister in law gave them a picture frame with a note saying "baby Byars coming soon"
with my 2nd I told my husband by getting my oldest a blanket that I put "I'm Gonna Be A Big Sister" on and had her show daddy her new blanket, and then we showed my parents, and family, we also have sent a picture of the first ultrasound and the picture of my oldest with her blanket to my in-laws. With my 1st we sent pictures of the ultrasound and said we gonna have a little spud (we lived in Idaho at the time), with our third we showed our ultrasound picture to my parents, and my mother-in-law came to visit and we got a build a bear bear and had a blue and pink ribbon on one on each ear and had it hold either the ultrasound or baby on board or something like that....I have also seen some one wear a shirt that said baby with an arrow, also seen where they took a picture of the positive test and put it on an iron on t shirt, if there is a little kid you can have them tell everyone, "aunt ... is gonna be a mommy I get to be the big cousin" something fun like that
We left books out on the table when friends came to visit - what to expect when you're expecting :)
With our first child we gave my father a birthday card with a dog saying "woof woof". On the inside it said "that's Happy Birthday Grandpa!" in dog.
I have my husband an anniversary card with a positive pregnancy test in it. We weren't supposed to buy gifts that year so he would not open it because he thought there was a gift inside. It took me 10 mins for me to get him to open the card.
You could also make a t shirt with the ultrasound pic on the belly where the baby would be.
with the twins we had an ultrasound photo that showed both babies. We didn't tell anyone that we were having twins...they had to actually SEE it on the ultrasound. The reactions we got were priceless....as some people were just like, oh cool a baby, but others got it immediatly! so fun!
We adopted our little guy, and only had 1hr notice before we got him. So we went and picked him up, and on our way home we just stopped by our parents and walked in holing a baby! They were completely shocked (as were we)!
Well lets see since I'm a man and single how I would go about this lol. I suppose i would invite the people that matter the most to dinner and have a nice meal and while lounging around after dinner I would be like well I'm tired of baking with the oven My Oven is going to be baking for nine months... Then there would be dead silence and I would scream OMGosh I'm preggers and we would laugh . For some reason I can kinda imagine it happening lol.
I like the idea of sending out cinnamon rolls with a bun in the oven type announcement. For our first however (to tell my dad) we inscribed a copy of The Giving Tree (my childhood fave) with the hopes that he could read it to his coming grandchild, as he read it to me!
With our first child, we told my inlaws on my father in laws birthday with a picture frame that said I <3 My Papa with an ultrasound picture inside. With out second child, we repeated the exact same thing but it coincided with my mother in laws birthday this time so her frame said I <3 My Mima with a picture of our little guy wearing a "I'm the big brother" t shirt.
I have never had the privilege of getting to tell anyone such wonderful news. However, my friend receive a precious picture of her granddaughter who lives out of state. She had a t-shirt on that said "I'm the big sister."
We were not very exciting at all. We just told our family as soon as we found out. Sorry to be so lame!
For my 2nd I waited til we were going to a friends house for dinner.Just before they opened the door I told my husband and then ran inside.
With my 1st son, I took the pg test to my family (in a bag) and showed it to them one at a time. I LOVED enjoying the moment with each one of them.
With my second we called everyone.
With my third (a surprise) we told them at a family get-together!
Nothing too creative, but hopefully will get me an entry to win your pattern!!!
<3<3<3 3 Boys & A Ball of Yarn!!!
I wanted to tell my husband in a cute, clever way but was so excited that I just ran in the room and handed him the pregnancy test. Once the doctor confirmed I was indeed pregnant we called our parents. I was so happy I told everyone I know before I was 12 weeks along.
We didn't have a creative way to tell others, but the fun story is my hair dresser told me both times I was pregnant before I even knew. She said my hair felt and looked different and she was right both times!
One of my friends just recently had a bub and i got it through a text message (yeah not to different) BUT! the text message was written as though the bub had written it, introducing herself to everyone.. it went like this.. "hello everyone. My name is ********. i am a gorgeous little girl/boy who entered the world at *****. and i weigh ***. My mummy and daddy are very proud of me "
It was a nice suprise!
And i totally read the whole purpose wrong!
But i think my concept would still work with a text message to announce that something special might be on the way!
For my second child, I dressed my son in a t-shirt that stated Big Brother. I was surprised that a number of family members didn't "get" it right away!
birthday party invitation with all the details and we mailed them out to our parents!
Since I was not able to have biological children and after many failed adoptions, we got the call that there was a baby for us the Sunday before Thanksgiving. After the legal waiting period (48 hours in Texas) we called everyone and told them we had a precious baby boy.
Not an unique way to tell everyone but it was one of the happiest days in a lot of people's lives.
When I was expecting my second child I really wanted a girl since we had a boy so I decided to "think pink" and put pink paper up everywhere in the office, copied everything on pink paper, wore pink, and so on. Finally, the day came when I went to have my ultrasound during my lunch hour. When I returned, I started pulling down all the pink...everyone knew it was a "boy"...and he was fabulous!!
We told with our first, by giving our parents gifts - luckily when we told came right around mom's day - and instead of real gifts, there were baby booties... so fun! for baby #2 we had our son wear a shirt saying I'm a big brother - shockingly it took the gparents a long time to figure it out!
My first son was....well I still lived at home (I was 20) and always scared to tell my mom anything (she's a tough cop). So, I told her while she was in the shower @ 10:30pm, she was getting ready for work She grawled & told me to get out of the bathroom. Why tell her then? My reason was because I can out run a nake 6ft lady down the street
When we got pg last year, we wanted to tell our daughter in a special way. She was almost 6 and reading and wanted badly to be a sister, so we got her a tshort that had her name and said big sister. How her face lighted when she was reading it was priceless. I will remember that moment for ever.
We just called them up and said "hey i'm pregnant" haha. Why not have her play charades at a party and that can be the phrase "I'm pregnant" It would be funny to see someone finally yell out the answer and then everyone realize ooooooo LOL :)
